Let’s escape from the crowd to experience the nature of Hachimantai and Appi Kogen.
Spring season of Appi Kogen and Hachimantai area. “Hachimantai Aspite Line”

The longest snow corridor in Japan, 27km long, can only be seen in the spring! A popular drive spot in the Appi / Hachimantai area!

About 44 minutes
Hachimantai Aspite line is known as a name indicating a volcano-shaped like a shield. “The snow corridor” is formed when snow is removed from the roadway during road closed temporarily in winter. The traffic is open in mid April, and the “Snow Corridor”, which stands on a driveway with a total length of about 27 km, is the longest in Japan, and is a sightseeing area in Appi and Hachimantai areas. There is a rest house near the summit and there are Onuma and Matsuo mine ruins on the way. (* If there is a risk of freezing, traffic may be closed.)

“Hachimantai Jukai Line”

A popular drive spot in Appi and Hachimantai areas, where you can enjoy the gorgeous view from the Hachimantai jukai line through Iwate mountain.
 Required time from Appi Kogen:
About 56 minutes
Hachimantai “Jukai line” is a popular sightseeing place of freshness natural scenery. Matsukawa Onsen, located in a valley, offers a one-day hot spring. On the way, there is a colony of “Mizu basho”. A great drive course that connects to Hachimantai Aspite line at the top is ideal for sightseeing. (* If there is a risk of freezing, roadway may be closed.)

Fudo Waterfall, the only waterfall in the prefecture selected as one of the top 100 waterfalls in Japan, is 15m high! The vertically falling waterfall is impressive. There is “Sakuramatsu Shrine” under the quay next to the waterfall. it is said that the villagers were surprised and worshipped as a good sign after seeing cherry blossoms blooming on pine trees in the past. You can also take a stroll naturally on the promenade along the mountain stream. Every 3rd May, the “Fudo Waterfall Festival” is held.
